Affiliate disclosure
Malta Spirit participates in the GetYourGuide partner program. When you book an activity through one of our links, we earn a small commission — at no extra cost to you. This page explains exactly how that works and what we do (and do not) do with the revenue.
What is an affiliate link?
An affiliate link is a regular URL with a tracking parameter that tells the merchant which website sent the visitor. If a reader clicks one of our affiliate links and then books a tour or activity within a tracking window, GetYourGuide pays us a commission. The price you see and the price you pay are identical to what you would see if you went to getyourguide.com directly — we add no markup of any kind.
Our partner: GetYourGuide
We work exclusively with GetYourGuide (partner ID
LDXYA0P) for tours and activities in Malta, Gozo and Comino.
GYG is a Berlin-based marketplace that aggregates more than 200,000 tours
worldwide. We chose them because:
- They have the deepest Malta inventory (cruise tours, day trips, museum tickets, diving, food tours).
- They have a free 24-hour cancellation on most products.
- Their booking flow is fast, mobile-friendly and works in 19 languages.
- Their commission split is fair enough that we can run this site without resorting to ads or sponsored content.
Are all links on this site affiliated?
No. Only links to getyourguide.com (and its country domains:
.fr, .de, .es, .it) are
affiliated. Every affiliated link on the site has the
rel="sponsored nofollow" attribute, which is the standard
Google asks publishers to use.
Links to government sites (visitmalta.com, heritagemalta.mt, transport.gov.mt), ferry operators (Virtu Ferries, Gozo Channel), official museum ticket offices, news outlets and Wikipedia are not affiliated.
How we choose what to recommend
We recommend activities for editorial reasons, not commercial ones. Concretely:
- An activity is recommended because we believe it is the best option for that experience — or because it is the most honest way to do something the reader is going to do anyway (e.g. visit the Hypogeum, cross to Gozo).
- We do not rank activities by commission rate. The commission rate is roughly the same across the GYG catalog anyway.
- We name and explain alternatives when there are cheaper or better non-affiliated options (public bus, walking, free entry days).
- If an activity is a known tourist trap, we say so and propose the alternative — even if it costs us a sale. See our honest Malta page.
What we don't do
- We do not accept comped trips, free tour vouchers or sponsored posts from operators.
- We do not sell direct advertising slots to local hotels, restaurants or tour companies.
- We do not have a proprietary tour package or a side business pushing private tours.
- We do not publish guest posts or paid backlinks. Every word on this site was written by our team.
Your impact on price
Zero. The price you see when you click an affiliate link is the same price every other visitor sees. The commission is paid by GetYourGuide out of their margin, not added on top. Booking via our links is one of the few ways to support honest, independent travel publishing without paying anything extra.
Compliance and legal
This site complies with the EU Consumer Rights Directive, the FTC Endorsement
Guides and the Google Helpful Content rules on commercial relationships.
Every affiliate link uses the sponsored rel attribute, and
this disclosure page is linked in the footer of every page on the site.
